Our November Week 3 Preparedness Challenge includes adding a few survival tools to your 72-hour kit. To keep it simple, I selected a few tools you can find on sale during the holiday season. Tools that the men in your family probably already have, though they may not let you put those in their 72-hour kit. 🙂 If you ever need to evacuate, camp out or camp in, these tools could prove useful because you will always know where they are.
1. Gather Survival Tools For Your 72-hour Kit
After looking over a multitude of websites, the tools listed below kept coming up. You don’t have to buy them for everyone in your family. Perhaps just the adults or your teenager.
There may come a time where you have to cut fabric or canvas to free an individual. Or you need a screwdriver or can opener. And a few carabiners on your 72-hour kit could assist with hanging something useful.
Your tools don’t need to be expensive. You’re not after the greatest multi-tool ever invented. Check out Leatherman.com for ideas, but you don’t have to shop there. You’ll find great prices at hardware stores, the men’s gadget section in department stores and Walmart.
- Leatherman-type multi-tool
- or Swiss Army knife
While shopping, think inexpensive, lightweight and useful. NOT survival of the fittest.
This is the last challenge of the month. Keep it simple this week!
