Choose to Be Organized for Emergencies • January Prep Challenge 1

Why get organized for emergencies? I don’t mean organizing your panty, though I love to do that. It’s time to organize your thoughts, and then choose to be organized for emergencies this year by starting my first January prep challenge. Whether you’re on my website FoodStorageOrganizer, my Facebook page or my Instagram page, I’m here to help.

WHAT’S YOUR WHY?

Take time this week to think about why you want to plan for emergencies and how you’ll get it done. Don’t worry about details. Just answer questions like these:

  • Why do I want to plan for emergencies?
  • How will I carry out my goals this year?
  • Who will help me?
  • Do I want to set weekly or monthly goals? Or a combination of both?

You’ve got this.

What’s your Budget for Prep Supplies?

It’s taken me years to stock up on our preparedness supplies, so don’t fret. The amount someone chooses to set aside is different for everyone. It probably will depend on your family size, income, and home storage space. Write down what your budget it. If it hurts your brain, maybe start with a $10 weekly budget for food storage and a $25 monthly budget for emergency supplies. The choice is yours.

What’s Your Emergency Fund Budget?

Everyone needs an emergency fund. I’m not talking about a food storage budget. What if the oven goes up in smoke? Or you need to stay in a hotel after a disaster. This principle is taught by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Members have been encouraged to have a financial reserve and it’s pretty wise counsel. Here’s the pdf “All Is Safely Gathered: In Home Storage” with more information.

Write down an amount you want to save this year. You can write, right?

When you choose to organize your thoughts, and choose to be organized for emergencies, your preparedness journey has begun.

I believe in you!
