Our first May prep challenge is to buy emergency cooking supplies in case your stove or oven won’t work after a power outage. So, it’s important to have your backup plan. You can always eat canned green beans after a power outage, but your family may not be too excited about them. You may already have something you can use in your camping supplies.
While you are finding emergency cooking equipment, add some eating supplies into your 72-hour kit. Stay focused on this week’s goal and you’ll get the job done.
1. Buy Emergency Cooking Supplies
Once you decide what type of cooking supplies to get, watch for sales and then buy your equipment. Watch YouTube videos about outdoor cooking. Try to get something that isn’t very complicated for your skill level. Store fuel if necessary. Here are a few cooking options.
- A one-burner gas butane stove.
- A camping stove.
- A propane barbecue with a single burner on the side.
- A Dutch oven.
- A solar oven.
- A volcano stove.
2. Add Eating Supplies to Your 72-hour kit
If you need to evacuate, make sure you have the eating supplies you need in your 72-hour kit for the food you stored.
