Stock Up on Emergency Picnic Supplies
Our fourth prep challenge in May is to stock up on emergency picnic supplies such as paper plates, cups, bowls, plastic utensils and more. Outside water sources like rivers may become contaminated after a disaster. Water could be shut off. If you have to choose between drinking your emergency water or washing dishes with it, I’d choose drinking.
Picnic supplies go on sale during the summer months which is awesome for us! So, keep watching for sales at grocery stores, Costco, Sam’s Club, and pharmacies for deals.
Paper picnic supplies can be burned too, so you won’t fill up your trash can.in an emergency. Another tip is to shop after Independence Day when you’ll find some heavily discounted patriotic picnic supplies.
Here are a few items to add to your shopping list:
- paper plates, paper bowls
- paper cups or Styrofoam for hot beverages
- paper towels or napkins
- plastic utensils
- disposable tablecloths
- heavyweight foil for cooking
The key is to not let them disappear from your shelves before you need to buy some more. I hope you can stock up on some emergency picnic supplies, so you’ll be ready for the unexpected.
